The 31st International Ballet Festival of Miami wraps its three-week run this weekend with a Grand Classical Gala at The Fillmore Miami Beach on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m., while a participatory one-man show closes its season at the Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road the following night.

The three events span ballet, theater and jazz across venues on Washington Avenue, Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive.

Gala caps festival that drew dancers from 17 companies, 11 countries

The gala caps a festival that brought more than 100 principal dancers from 17 companies across 11 countries to stages throughout South Florida, according to Time Out Miami. Organized by the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami under artistic director Eriberto Jiménez, this year's edition featured debuts by the National Ballet Theatre of Košice from Slovakia, Marez Contemporary Dance and the Cincinnati Ballet under new artistic director Cervilio Amador.

The Fillmore is at 1700 Washington Ave. Tickets range from $40 to $70 and are available at internationalballetfestival.org. The festival also staged a free outdoor performance on Lincoln Road's Euclid Oval on Aug. 6.

Hausmann's 1,200-postcard collection inspires closing show at Colony

Miami New Drama's final production of the current season, "Todo Lo Que No Dije," plays its last performance Sunday at the Colony Theatre, 1040 Lincoln Road. The participatory show stars Venezuelan actor Christian McGaffney, known for Netflix's "Simón," as a narrator surrounded by postcards. Founding artistic director Michel Hausmann conceived the piece, drawing on his personal collection of more than 1,200 vintage postcards from Venezuela. Playwright Harley Elias wrote the script.

Performed in Spanish with English subtitles, the production invites audience members into the story. The Colony Theatre box office can be reached at 305-674-1040.

Grammy winner Tal Cohen anchors Betsy's nightly Piano Bar series

The Betsy Hotel's Piano Bar at 1440 Ocean Drive offers free live music seven nights a week throughout August. The venue bills itself as Miami Beach's longest-running live music series. Grammy-winning pianist Tal Cohen performs every Tuesday as part of the Piano Masters & New Voices residency, mentoring emerging talent from the University of Miami Frost School of Music.
