The Mediterranean-style mansion at 13 Star Island Drive that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez bought for $32.5 million in 2020 is headed for the wrecking ball.

Miami-Dade County issued a $175,000 residential demolition permit for the property between Aug. 4 and Aug. 10, according to permit records reported by The Real Deal. The permit, filed under Job Number BR2611636, lists Fleetwood Star Holdings LLC as the owner.

That LLC is the same entity that appeared in county records when Lopez and Rodriguez closed on the 10-bedroom waterfront estate in August 2020, according to the South Florida Business Journal. The seller was E&A Estate LLC, managed by Dana S. Dill.

The couple split in April 2021. That was roughly eight months after the purchase.

The home sits on a 0.92-acre lot with 100 feet of Biscayne Bay frontage, a private dock, pool, cabana and covered bar. Built in 2003, the roughly 15,000-square-foot house had been listed at $40 million before Lopez and Rodriguez negotiated the price down by more than $7 million.

Star Island, a man-made island completed in 1922, holds about 34 waterfront estates accessible through a single staffed security gate. Bloomberg has ranked it the most expensive neighborhood in the United States by average home price. Citadel founder Ken Griffin has assembled seven contiguous properties on the island since 2023, totaling roughly 6.5 acres and $169 million in purchases, making him the largest single landowner there. Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin's estate on the island sold for $120 million in March 2025.

Rodriguez himself sold the adjacent vacant lot at 14 Star Island Drive back to Griffin in October 2023 for $45.5 million, nearly double the $24 million Griffin had originally sold it for in 2020, according to The Real Deal.

No new construction permit for 13 Star Island Drive has appeared in Miami-Dade permit records as of Aug. 14. Plans for what replaces the mansion have not been filed with the county.
