Miami Beach's oldest dive bar is throwing itself a block party.

Mac's Club Deuce, the cash-only watering hole at 222 14th St., will celebrate its centennial with a free block party on Saturday, Sept. 5. The event runs from 4 to 11:30 p.m. on 14th Street at Washington Avenue. The Washington Avenue Business Improvement District, a nonprofit municipal board representing property owners along the corridor, is presenting the celebration.

Live bands and DJs will perform on a street stage, with a late set moving inside the bar after the outdoor party wraps. The Deuce will sell 100th-anniversary merchandise and hand out sponsor giveaways. A charity raffle benefits Heart Heroes, Inc., which supports children with congenital heart defects, and the Florida Chapter of the Human Trafficking Foundation. The celebration nearly stayed small. Manager Christie Ashenoff had planned an indoor party until Troy Wright, executive director of the Washington Avenue BID, pushed for a full street takeover.

"I was like, Troy, you're crazy … He talked us into it, and now I'm really glad that we're doing it," Ashenoff told Miami New Times.

The bar brands itself "Est. 1926," though Prohibition did not end until December 1933. The name "Deuce" nods to its address: 222 14th Street. Mary Klein, widow of the bar's namesake, told Miami New Times the building stored seaplane parts for the military during World War II before becoming a restaurant and piano bar.

Mac Klein, a World War II veteran from New York City, bought the bar on Feb. 3, 1964, and barely changed the interior for five decades. He worked seven days a week in Hawaiian shirts until he died on March 25, 2016, at age 101. The bar's pink-and-green neon lighting dates to the late 1980s, when Miami Vice filmed there and producers installed the lights for a shoot. Klein agreed to keep them.

Ashenoff took over as manager after her husband, Argelio "Angel" Diaz Novo, the bar's longtime manager, died in January 2026 at age 60. The Deuce still opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 5 a.m., seven days a week, with a two-for-one happy hour from open until 5 p.m. Still cash only.
