Miami Beach residents who want to vote in the Nov. 3 election have until Monday, Oct. 5, to register to vote.
Miami-Dade Elections Headquarters, at 2700 NW 87th Ave. in Doral, will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Monday to accept last-minute registrations, Local 10 reported.
"We are keeping our doors open late so that no one misses the opportunity to register and participate in our democratic process," Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia told Local 10.
The City of Miami Beach said Oct. 2 on X that Oct. 5 is the final day to register for the city's special election, which will be held alongside the countywide general election Nov. 3.
What's on the Miami Beach ballot
Miami Beach voters will decide one local referendum involving the city-owned property at 1691 Michigan Ave.
A "yes" vote would approve an amendment to the city's lease with RK Rivani LLC that grants two additional 20-year extension options and authorizes about 47,000 square feet of new development above the property's existing parking garage.
During the two extension periods, totaling 40 years, the agreement calls for about $247.73 million in guaranteed base rent and an estimated $184.14 million in potential percentage rent.
The amendment would also increase percentage rent from 2.5% to 3%. The city estimates the change would generate about $13.26 million in additional percentage rent over the remaining lease term.
The proposal requires approval from a majority of Miami Beach voters.
Early voting and Election Day
Early voting runs Oct. 19 through Nov. 1. Registered voters can cast ballots at any Miami-Dade County early voting location during the early voting period.
Miami Beach City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, is among the early voting locations.
On Election Day, Nov. 3, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters casting ballots that day must go to their assigned precinct.
Vote-by-mail information
The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.
Completed mail ballots must be received by the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark by Election Day is not sufficient.
Voters can also return mail ballots at designated secure ballot intake stations during early voting.
How to check your registration
Floridians can pre-register to vote beginning at age 16, although they cannot vote until they are eligible.
