South Pointe Park Pier is competing for Best Attraction in the Miami Herald's 2026 Miami-Dade Favorites Contest, and residents can cast a vote every day through Sept. 4.

How Miami Beach Residents Can Cast a Vote

The City of Miami Beach announced the nomination on its official social media accounts Aug. 17, the same day voting opened at noon. Ballots are cast online at VoteMiamiDade.com, where voters can return once daily until the deadline of 5 p.m. Sept. 4.

Inside the Miami-Dade Favorites Contest

The contest, run by the Miami Herald, invites the public to pick favorites among restaurants, local businesses and attractions across Miami-Dade County. Last year's edition drew 373,000 votes, a 51% jump from the year before.

What Makes the Pier a Contender

The 450-foot pier sits at 1 Washington Ave., the southernmost tip of South Beach, offering views of Biscayne Bay, Fisher Island, the downtown Miami skyline and cruise ships passing through PortMiami. It draws anglers, kayakers and families to its viewing stations, which feature turtle-safe lighting and recycling bins for fishing lines.

Completed in late August 2014 at a cost of $4.8 million, the current structure is the third pier built on the site. Its entrance was designed by artist Tobias Rehberger through the Miami Beach Art in Public Places Project.

The pier anchors the larger South Pointe Park, a 17-acre green space that underwent a $22.5 million renovation completed in 2009.

No announcement date for contest winners has been published.
