Surfside kids will have access to town-run soccer and tennis programs through next fall after the Town Commission approved agreements with both providers Tuesday night.
The commission voted Aug. 11 to approve contracts with Alves Sports Group LLC for youth soccer and GM Sports Tennis LLC for youth tennis, covering fiscal year 2026-2027. Both items passed on the consent agenda, meaning they were approved in a single motion as routine business.
Acting Town Manager Mario A. Diaz presented both items to the commission. Mayor Shlomo Danzinger presided over the 7 p.m. meeting at Commission Chambers, 9293 Harding Ave.
The programs are set to begin Oct. 1, when the town's new fiscal year starts, and run through Sept. 30, 2027.
GM Sports Tennis LLC is returning for at least a second consecutive year. The commission approved the same provider for the tennis program at its Nov. 12, 2025, meeting under the same procurement exemption, Section 3-13(7)(D) of the Surfside Town Code, which covers recreational programming services. Both the soccer and tennis agreements were found exempt from competitive procurement under that provision.
Registration details, program fees, locations and age ranges were not included in the agenda documents. Families interested in signing up should contact Surfside Town Hall or Parks and Recreation for enrollment information.
