Miami Beach police arrested a 17-year-old Monday, Sept. 28, after he was found carrying one of the master keys to Anatomy gym lockers.

The teen is accused of stealing high-end watches from locker rooms across South Florida, according to an arrest report obtained by WSVN 7News. Officers took him into custody outside Anatomy's Midtown Miami location at 3415 NE 2nd Ave. He faces charges of fraud, burglary and grand theft and has been taken to a juvenile facility.

Police have not released his name.

The arrest report, as WSVN reported, ties the teen to a Feb. 18 incident at Anatomy's Lincoln Road location in Miami Beach. He allegedly used false identification to enter the gym, then was captured on surveillance entering and exiting the men's locker room multiple times. A manager recognized the key found on the teen as one of the master keys for the gym's lockers, per the report.

David Abrams, who told WSVN his $11,000 Rolex was stolen from a locker around the time of the Feb. 18 incident, called the watch a family heirloom. "This was something from my father, my family," Abrams said.

Investigators allege the teen stole watches from members at multiple Anatomy branches and other health clubs across Miami-Dade County, as well as one gym in Los Angeles. The arrest report described him as "part of an organized theft group targeting specific locations and victims for high-value jewelry."

Detectives also learned he had been previously arrested for similar crimes in Los Angeles along with his father, WSVN reported.

The arrest came after staff at the Midtown Miami gym recognized the teen from surveillance footage of prior incidents at other locations. Anatomy co-owner and co-CEO David Geller said employees stalled the teen with questions while calling police. Geller said the teen was never out of their sight until officers arrived.

Geller said the gym reminds members to leave valuables in their cars. Anyone with information about related thefts can contact the Miami Beach Police Department at 305-673-7900 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
