Families looking for a no-cost way to get kids into baseball have an option at North Shore Park.

Miami Beach Parks and Danny Berry Baseball Leagues offer a free instructional program for children ages 3 through 14 at the park, located at 501 72nd St. The city promoted the program on its official social media accounts on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

The program splits players into age-specific divisions: Introduction to Baseball for ages 3–4, Pee Wees for ages 5–6, and Rookies for ages 7–8, with additional divisions covering players up to 14. The youngest group focuses on fundamentals with an emphasis on physical and emotional development, and participants receive a practice T-shirt. The organization's website also lists Fall and Spring League and Summer Camps among its North Shore Park offerings.

Danny Berry, a South Florida youth coach who also operates programs at Palmer Park in South Miami, runs the league. His organization describes the program as fun and free of pressure, open to everyone regardless of race, religion or gender, with limited financial assistance available for related costs.

The free program is separate from the city's paid fall youth sports registration, which opens Monday, Aug. 10, at $33 per sport for residents. That paid slate covers baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, flag football and fencing from Sept. 8 through Nov. 10.

For families who want baseball without the fee, the Danny Berry program carries no registration cost.
