North Beach residents who have struggled with limited parking are getting relief. The City of Miami Beach opens the Deauville Parking Garage at 260 67th St. on Friday, July 17, at 9 a.m.

The grand opening ceremony runs 30 minutes. The city has not yet released the garage's capacity, construction cost, or funding source, listing the event on its calendar with "more details to come."

Why North Beach needs it

The garage sits just inside the North Beach Community Redevelopment Agency district, which the City Commission created in 2021 after finding that inadequate transportation and parking facilities were among the conditions holding the neighborhood back. The CRA's Redevelopment Plan lists transportation, mobility, and infrastructure among its core priorities, according to city records.

That parking pressure has only grown. Since Miami Beach voters approved increased density for North Beach in 2017, a wave of residential projects has followed. The 20-story 72 Park tower is complete. The 103-unit Ella Miami Beach is under construction. The 232-apartment NoBe PARC and 222-unit 7200 Collins are planned, according to The Real Deal. Each adds residents and visitors who need somewhere to park.

The city's 2018 General Obligation Bond, approved by voters for $439 million, funds 57 improvement projects across North Beach, Middle Beach, and South Beach, according to the city's G.O. Bond program office. The city has not confirmed whether the Deauville Garage drew from that bond or another source.

The ribbon cutting is free and open to the public. Head to 260 67th St., Miami Beach, on Friday, July 17, between 9 and 9:30 a.m.

The North Beach CRA Advisory Committee, led by Chair Steven Meiner with Executive Director Eric Carpenter, meets next on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 4:30 p.m. at Normandy Shores Golf Club, 2401 Biarritz Drive.
