A free psych-cumbia concert, a four-day cultural beach festival, a major museum exhibition in its final weeks, and the weekly farmers market give Miami Beach residents plenty of reasons to stay local this weekend.

Cumbia Libre at the Bandshell

The Rhythm Foundation presents Cumbia Libre at the Miami Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave., on Saturday, July 25, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. The show is free and open to all ages.

Bogotá-based psych-cumbia group Romperayo Sound System headlines, joined by Miami's own Sonora Tukukuy and local DJs spinning between sets. The event doubles as a benefit concert supporting emergency relief in Venezuela, according to Time Out Miami. It falls between Colombia's and Peru's national independence days, and organizers are bringing Peruvian food vendors and live dance performances to mark the occasion.

The Bandshell describes the night as "a party to celebrate libertad with cumbia music, food and fun."

The Miami Takeover returns for year 18

The Miami Takeover, a Washington-based event production company, brings its 18th annual cultural beach festival to Miami Beach from Friday, July 24, through Monday, July 27. The festival is a collaboration with the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority and the City of Miami Beach Tourism and Culture Department, according to a Patch.com event listing.

Six events span the long weekend, including go-go, hip-hop and R&B performances, standup comedy, pool parties, art activations and a VIP yacht experience. The event draws attendees from across the country, according to Vincent Peden, a partner at The Miami Takeover LLC. All events are 21-and-over. Weekend party passes start at $400, with the Marseille Beachfront Hotel serving as the official hotel partner.

Jack Pierson at The Bass

Jack Pierson: The Miami Years remains on view at The Bass Museum of Art, 2100 Collins Ave., through mid-August. Curated by James Voorhies, The Bass Curator at Large, the show is the first devoted to exploring Miami's influence on Pierson's life and work.

A centerpiece is ARRAY (MIAMI), a 10-by-14-foot commissioned piece combining posters, poems, postcards, photographs and works on paper. Pierson first visited Miami Beach in the winter of 1984, drawn by South Beach's queer nightlife, Art Deco revival and emerging art scene. The exhibition opened Sept. 24, 2025, and is supported by Lisson Gallery, Regen Projects, the Miami-Dade County Tourist Development Council and the Knight Foundation.

The exhibition contains nudity. The Bass has published a bilingual resource for families visiting with children.

Farmers market and live music on Sunday

The Lincoln Road Farmers Market returns Sunday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Washington Avenue and Meridian Avenue. Free and open to the public year-round, the market features fruits, vegetables, fresh-cut flowers and plants from local vendors.

Later that afternoon, the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series offers a free concert from 5 to 6 p.m. on the Ocean Drive Promenade between 14th Street and 14th Place. The series is presented by the Ocean Drive Improvement Association in partnership with the City of Miami Beach.
