Miami Beach will provide the setting on screen and off for a free evening of locally filmed horror shorts Friday, Oct. 30, at SoundScape Park.

The community advance screening of FANGORIA Studios’ “The Class of 2026 Horror Shorts” runs from 7 to 8 p.m. at 400 17th St., according to the city’s event calendar.

Local settings, practical effects

The PG-13 program was shot in Miami Beach and emphasizes practical visual effects, the city says. The films use tropical locations as the backdrop for their scares.

A City of Miami Beach grant helped support the program, which aims to attract more filmmakers to the city. The community screening takes place before the shorts enter the global festival circuit.

Admission is free. The PG-13 designation may help families decide whether the program suits younger viewers. Check the city’s event listing for updates before attending.
