A full orchestra performing Debussy and Ravel while projection mapping floods the dome of Temple Emanu-El with color and motion. That's what the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MMF) has planned for Saturday, July 18, when its new production "Celestia: A Symphony of Light" closes the nonprofit's 2026 summer concert series.

The show runs 8:45 to 10 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El Sanctuary, 1701 Washington Ave. The MMF Orchestra will perform Debussy's "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" and "Clair de Lune" alongside selections from Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloé" while 360-degree projection mapping animates the sanctuary's soaring architecture. The production draws inspiration from France's Luminiscence immersive shows, according to a festival press release. General admission is $2; balcony seating is $55. A second Celestia performance is scheduled for Thursday, July 16, at 8:30 p.m. at the same venue.

Celestia caps a final week of programming that began Sunday, July 12, with a Conductor's Symphony Concert at Temple Emanu-El Ballroom. Emerging conductors from MMF's Conducting Institute led a full orchestra through Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 ("Pastoral") and Brahms' Serenade No. 1 in D major, according to the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau event calendar.

On Friday, July 17, at 8 p.m., the festival moves to The Betsy Hotel Art Gallery at 1440 Ocean Drive for a Chamber Music Concert. Student musicians from MMF's Orchestra Institute will perform repertoire they selected and rehearsed with festival faculty. The Betsy has hosted MMF since the festival's founding in 2013. Attendees should enter through Collins Avenue and 14th Place, where a "Carlton" sign marks the door.

Founded by artistic director Michael Rossi, MMF is a local nonprofit that brings emerging classical musicians from around the world to Miami Beach each summer for intensive training and public performances. The 2026 Summer Series, which began Saturday, May 23, is supported by the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority, the City of Miami Beach, the National Endowment for the Arts and The Children's Trust.
