Miami Beach residents and business owners have until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, to nominate members of the city's Hispanic community for the 2026 Hispanic Heritage Month Awards.

The city's Hispanic Affairs Committee, which advises the City Commission on matters affecting Miami Beach's Hispanic community, announced the nomination window in a press release Wednesday, July 16. Recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony during the city's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration in October.

In Miami Beach, 52.5% of the population identifies as Hispanic or Latino, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates.

Hispanic community members are eligible

Nominees must be members of the Hispanic community who live or work in the City of Miami Beach and have made a positive contribution in their profession. Each nomination requires the nominee's full name, address, phone number, and a detailed explanation of their contribution.

Ten categories to qualify in

The committee will select recipients in 10 individual categories: Lifetime Achievement, Educational Excellence, Public Service, Social Justice and Advocacy, Arts and Entertainment, Youth Leadership, Community Impact, Sports Achievement, Adult Contributing to the Success of Youth, and Outstanding Hispanic Community Member.

A separate business award is open to any business, business owner, or employee of a qualified business with at least 51% Hispanic ownership.

Nomination forms are available on the City of Miami Beach website.
